Abstract
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) has a long history of supporting international safeguards and global nuclear nonproliferation efforts. Much of the work and many of the programs at ORNL have and continue to be supported by the U.S. Department of Energy. These programs typically involve technical, educational, and research elements concentrated on fuel cycle processes and materials. ORNL contributes to the development of new safeguards technology and tools and to the implementation of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards at U.S. facilities. ORNL also supports international engagement programs and collaborations, and it investigates advanced safeguards concepts and approaches. This paper will provide examples of ORNL’s ongoing contributions to international safeguards and it will provide depictions of some of the facilities, tools, and resources available at ORNL.
