Great East Japan Earthquake, Tsunami, and Fukushima Daiichis Accident

Good morning, Mr. Chairman and members of INMM. Mr.Chairman, I thank you very much for your kind introduction.First of all, I wish to express my deep regret for the severe impacton the promotion of nuclear energy use over the world dueto the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station.Concerning this accident, we have received financial support andencouragement from INMM. We have also received technicaland humanitarian assistance from many countries and organizationsaround the world including the United States.I would like to express our sincere gratitude for this supporton behalf of the INMM Japan Chapter.Moreover, the Japan Chapter was given the opportunity toorganize a special session, “Post-Fukushima Challenges in Safeguardsand Security” for this important opening session of the53rd INMM Annual Meeting today so that we can report on thecurrent situation and exchange views.
