USING EDUCATIVE AND INNOVATIVE COMIC TO CHANGE PEOPLE PERSPECTIVE ABOUT NUCLEAR IN INDONESIA

Public acceptance is one of the key factor of nuclear development in Indonesia. People rejection of Muria Nuclear power plant construction back in 2006 caused by lack of knowledge by surrounding communities. Public acceptance of nuclear power plant often depends on three things, perception of the risks, perception of the benefits, and their trust to the authority. We need a structural, sistematic, and massive approach to change people perspective about nuclear because 78% of Indonesian student know about nuclear from their teacher and 45% of it knows only the negative perspective of nuclear technology likes infertility, mutant, bomb, and cancer. (Amalia, 2013) In this paper, we use creative and innovative method to teach the children/student about nuclear using comic. We use comic because it will be more interesting for the children and makes them curious to study. We take a questionnaire and doing interview to some student about their perspective on nuclear before and after they read the comic book. This paper provides data and analysis of the questionnaire and interview also their perspective about nuclear in Indonesia. Desired outcome of this paper is the innovative, educative, and creative method to change people perspective about nuclear power and its implementation.
