Concept of Instrumentation for Material Storage Security

Nuclear security concerns with the prevention and detection of, and response to, theft, sabotage, unauthorized access, illegal transfer the management of nuclear material in such a way that reduces the risk of while nuclear safety is to be maintained.so it is necessary to maintain synchronization between this to parameters while designing a physical protection system. In safety of radioactive materials storage or radioactive waste storage, the risk factors are radioactivity leakage, sabotage, and theft and material accountancy. To overcome this risk parameters, from this paper the idea is to design the concept material management and storage system which can overcome this all risk parameters. The common system which can overcome this all threats parameters is basically designed by using closed loop instrumentation and automation technology. This concept ensures the security of material also from preventing it from insider and outsider threats. The system consists of hydraulic mechanism for assembly transfer of material block in case of internal or external interference. It also provides safety via IrDA stock measurements. At the backend, the whole system consisting of storage blocks are connected with emergency task operators via central server. Certain assessments and calibrations techniques are carried out such a way that it provides real time information which contracts the delay time before action. Weight sensors and level sensors are for continuous surveillance of material is also provided in this scheme. In case of insider threat, hydraulic mechanism along with instrumentation automatically moves the stored radioactive material to another protected containment automatically by the means of transfer assembly. From the block diagram, it can be observed that set points obtained from operator provides the accountancy operations along with the safety operations which is further to be improved by us.
