Abstract
—There are many quantitative analytical computer models that can help the analysts evaluate the effectiveness of Physical Protection System (PPS). Most of the models follow the same basic format. These tools are useful for an initial evaluation of protection system needs and can help in designing protection system needs and can help in designing protection layers and also help in adversary path analysis. In current scenario, smart phones are extensively used by the all classes of the society including researchers, student community and scientists. So, the idea of evaluating the effectiveness of PPS using available quantitative analytical models through the android application seems to be of great help for students and researchers currently pursuing research in the field of Nuclear Security. This application will graphically represent the nuclear facility. Graphical representation will show the physical areas of facility separated by the protection layers, which contains the protection elements and record the detection and delay values for each elements. Application will calculate the various parameters like Probability of Interruption (Pi), Critical Detection Point, Probability of effectiveness (PE) and other useful parameter which will help us in assessing risk and evaluating the effectiveness of PPS. Most vulnerable path for will also be highlighted automatically as and when detection and delay elements are manipulated. In this way, risk assessment for any nuclear facility will be few swipes away.
