Abstract
The ability to properly account for nuclear material is the cornerstone of any material control and accountability (MC&A) system. You can’t possibly detect and deter theft or diversion of nuclear material if the types and quantities of those materials are not well known. That is why the accounting system is an obvious choice when identifying important MC&A program elements. The accounting system at LANL is known as the Los Alamos Material Control and Accountability System (LAMCAS). This system includes the Local Area Nuclear Material Accounting System (LANMAS) as its core and the following locally developed modules and data feeds: LANMAS View, Historical View, 741 View, Measurement Control, Prior Period Adjustments, Physical Inventory, Site-wide, Rollup, Process Monitoring, Material at Risk (MAR) export, and Cost Accounting export
