Jordan Atomic Energy Commission: Moving Safely and Securely towards Nuclear Power

In 2008, the Jordan Nuclear Energy Commission was divided into two independent entities, the Jordan Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC). JAEC’s goal is to promote and develop peaceful utilization of atomic energy. To achieve this goal, JAEC cooperates with the IAEA and other international partners to ensure integration of nuclear safety, security and safeguards best practices into Jordan’s nuclear operations. This paper will outline the steps JAEC has taken to integrate nuclear safety, safeguards and security into all aspects of its nuclear infrastructure planning.
