Abstract
10 B lined proportional counters consisting of clusters of small tubelets have emerged as a leading replacement technology for 3 He tubes for waste assay applications. To date however every manufacturer has proposed a different form factor and implementation of this concept. This lack of convergence in structure suggests that the design concept remains relatively immature and that there may yet be some performance improvement to be gained from convergence towards an optimised structure. In this poster we investigate the performance of 10 B lined tubelet devices in terms of uniformity, temperature stability and electrical pulse characteristics in order to identify potential developments toward an optimised design for waste assay applications.
