Abstract
The Hungarian Safeguards Support Programme to the International Atomic Energy Agency started 22 years ago under the coordination of the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority and it has always been our goal to utilize our existing capacity in this field as much as possible and contribute directly or indirectly to the strengthening the IAEA’s safeguards regime in an organized way. Today our support program focuses on three major groups of tasks: 1. Organisation, hosting and development of different training activities, including the In-field training in the Framework of the Safeguards Traineeship Programme, Comprehensive Inspection Exercise Training and Additional Protocol Training. 2. Hungary provides facility environment for testing of newly developed safeguards technologies, especially containment and surveillance equipments either serving the traditional safeguards approach or those to be used under the integrated safeguards systems. All of these supporting activities are offered to the IAEA on in kind basis. 3. HAEA has been continuously active in supporting international safeguards verification activities by developing equipment and technology for national safeguards verification purposes in the Hungarian facilities. Hungary is ready to take active part in solving the new challenging issues emerging through the development of novel technologies. To this end Hungary has been taken already and will continue to take part in joint tasks with other support programmes.
