Abstract
The University of Tennessee Department of Nuclear Engineering (UTNE) established a graduate certificate program in nuclear security in 2009. This 12 semester credit hour certificate program in the UTNE has led to the expansion of student interest and other curricular offering at the University of Tennessee, including course offerings in other departments and stronger interactions with DOE/NNSA facilities in the region. The progress and accomplishments of the nuclear security education initiative at UT are reviewed.
