Abstract
The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) sites remain among the most well protected facilities in the world. Sustaining the significant level of improvement expected of these facilities will require tremendous effort and the NNSA is working to improve the efficiency of the security operations without compromising security effectiveness. Technology is providing a partial solution at present but consolidation of Special Nuclear Material storage sites and facilities will help. Investments in new “purpose-built” facilities are needed to address the long term sustainability of the NNSA security posture and Complex 2030 will provide the direction for this effort.
