Data Comparison Algorithms for Arms Control Treaty Verification

Abstract
Arms control treaty verification measures often require comparison of measurements made on treaty-limited items (TLIs) with nominal or representative values in order to verify the nature or identity of the TLI(s) in question. This paper discusses some algorithms for comparing measurements on TLIs, including algorithms based on leastsquares fitting techniques and multivariate algorithms based on cluster analysis and Mahalanobis distances.
