Abstract
Performance tests of physical protection systems are one of the important and necessary components of providing sustainability of all the physical protection system components. They include an assessment of sustainability of all the system components both individually, and in various degree of integration among them, and also the system as a whole. When organizing the performance tests at Luch and developing the Plan, a system approach was of primary importance. The objective of the tests is to estimate ability of an acting element or the whole system of providing safe NM keeping to meet the established technical requirements, including requirements for protection against a potential intruder or insider. Periodicity of the direct and indirect performance tests depends on a complexity level of the test and criticality of the element in the system. The tests of a high complexity level can be carried out no less than once a year whereas the tests of a low level are carried out daily. Periodicity of testing the elements should agree with the normative documents and specifications for the tested equipment. The personnel who will carry out the tests should be identified in the Plan of Tests at Luch; and also possible inspections should be taken into account in the Plan. The tests results must be documented in the forms convenient for the following analysis of the form. The system elements that are not sufficient in their operation are identified accordance with the analysis results, and the plan for increasing these elements effectiveness is developed.
