IAEA ASSISTANCE ON HEU MINIMIZATION

The IAEA has been assisting Member States in efforts to convert research reactors from using HEU to LEU fuel and to return the HEU fuel to the country of origin. IAEA is actively supporting international efforts to develop and qualify the higher density fuels that would be required to convert some research reactors to LEU operation. This paper describes current and planned IAEA efforts.
