Abstract
The Cyclops safeguards camera demonstrates future concepts in safeguard camera. This I2SIP-compliant camera performs motion detection at the rate of one picture per second and interfaces to a sever via Ethernet. RSA-authenticated pictures can be delivered as fast as one per second with the camera operatine simultaneously in the standard interval surveillance mode and the motion detection mode. This paper describes the hardware and software architecture of the camera and illustrates its functional flexibility with safeguards applications. The potential of using this camera with embedded algorithms for automatically detecting and classifying object is discussed.
