Abstract
The All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Experimental Physics (RFNC-VNIIEF) has constructed a storage facility for sensitive nuclear materials in which state of the art storage monitoring technologies are used and the monitoring data are available to certified users over the internet. The monitoring system, designed by VNIIEF experts, uses both Russian and international equipment and has a section of the storage area designed to model the Mayak Fissile Material Storage Area. The software used to collect, store and disseminate the information acquired from the monitoring equipment is a critical part of the system. It must be capable of guaranteeing continuity of knowledge of the monitored items under circumstances such as power failures, hardware failures, and other system malfunctions. With their experience operating previous monitoring experiments such as Container to Container and Magazine to Magazine, the VNIIEF software team is designing a program that is both rugged and functional. In this presentation we will discuss the program requirements, structure, and design implementation.
