Abstract
The goal of the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership is the expansion of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes worldwide in a safe and secure manner that supports clean development without air pollution or greenhouse gases, while reducing the risk of nuclear proliferation. As such, it addresses a wide variety of US domestic and foreign policy goals – energy security, sustainable development, climate change and nonproliferation. Its success depends not only on domestic technology development but also on partnerships with technology developers, with less developed countries and with international organizations. This paper will examine these partnerships to look at where they are and where they need to go.
