MEASURES ON NON-PROLIFERATION IN UZBEKISTAN

We presented a review of non-proliferation measures taken in Uzbekistan within last years. Those include upgrading the physical protection systems of facilities having at their disposal nuclear and radioactive materials, conversion of research reactors to lower enrichment fuel and improving operation safety. A special attention is paid to detection systems installed at customs' points which help to prevent smuggling of nuclear and radioactive materials. We also describe capabilities of radioanalytical and mobile laboratories for identification of materials. The future plans are described. The presented work is done in collaboration with US authorities.
