Abstract
United States (U.S.) Government responsibility for monitoring U.S. compliance with the Agreement between the U.S. and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for the Application of Safeguards in the U.S. is assigned to the Subgroup on IAEA Safeguards in the United States (SISUS). SISUS, through its member agencies, implements, within the U.S., the U.S. international safeguards policy. The subgroup is currently overseeing both implementation of the U.S.-IAEA Safeguards Agreement at U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)-licensee and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) license-exempt facilities and the development of guidelines for implementing the Additional Protocol to the Safeguards Agreement.
