Abstract
The Los Alamos National Laboratory is dispositioning materials to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) that are no longer programmatically required. Los Alamos often uses Acceptable Knowledge (AK) to meet many of the WIPP Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC). Acceptable Knowledge includes documentation that describes or verifies site history, mission, and operations, in addition to waste stream specific information used to define the generating process, waste matrix, waste quantities and contaminants (radiological and chemical). A waste stream includes waste material generated from a single process or activity that is similar in material, physical form, and hazardous constituents. This poster outlines the AK methodology used at LANL for materials disposition.
