Abstract
There is an increasing interest by government and industry to take advantage of computer tools to support regulation, training, and management. This interest is expanding into nuclear security, as well as other elements of critical infrastructure security. There is always a desire to have a tool that does everything. However, the ultimate tool rarely exists. The workshop participants were given the opportunity to leverage what has been learned in the worlds of safety and commercial simulation. They learned of the evolution of vulnerability assessment tools used in nuclear security. The workshop provided insights to the nuclear industry and government regulators to better understand what the tools can do and how they might be used in a regulatory environment. The workshop also gave the vendor/developer community a better understanding of the needs of their customers and what level of understanding is sufficient to meet the requirements of regulators. This workshop was the first in a series of workshops on the topic of VA tools.
