Abstract
The JIPNR-Sosny of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has established effective cooperation with partners in about 30 countries, including the FSU Ukraine, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Germany, and the USA. The key lines of international cooperation include: ? Expansion of the range of nuclear physics research with the financial assistance of international foundations and organizations through the vehicle of the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC), the 7 th Framework Program of the European Commission, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and direct contacts in the nuclear energy field. ? Development of new export-oriented innovation projects, creation of prototypes and setting up small-batch production of high-tech products in the framework of state R&D programs, scientific research programs, and the Russia-Belarus Union State programs, followed by offering them to foreign customers. ? Environmental and marketing development projects. ? HR development in the nuclear power engineering field. Transfer of fresh and spent Fuel from the Pamir mobile nuclear power plant (NPP) and the IRT-M research reactor from Belarus to the Russian Federation for processing. ? Upgrading of the nuclear material (NM) physical protection, material control, and accounting systems. ? Increasing acceptance at all levels of an enhanced Nuclear Security Culture ? Active participation in international exhibitions, fairs, and forums with the purpose of advertising our products and services, searching for investors and potential partners. One of the key problems of modern nuclear power engineering addressed in this paper is handling the accumulated radioactive waste. The JIPNR-Sosny researchers use the subcritical stand Yalina to carry out experiments valuable to the global nuclear community when developing future subcritical systems driven by external neutron sources in Europe, Japan, Russian and the USA. Cooperation of the JIPNR-Sosny with foreign research centers and researchers from the European Union and the United States determines the prospects for future joint activities and attests to the high level of mutual interests therein.
