Abstract
Nuclear material control and accounting computerized systems developed in Russia have some shortcomings caused basically by high cost of development, maintenance and operation, as well as essential restrictions in respect to information protection. The possible solution to these problems is to develop and further use own trusted systems software in the computerized MC&A system [1]. The justifications for passing to a new generation of computerized MC&A system based on a newly developed trusted systems software on the basis of the software with open source and possible problems and expenditures on this way are analyzed in this paper. Linux is selected as a basic software with an open source, because it is the most developed, having wide functional capabilities and allowing the information protection system based on mandatory access control to be embedded. The specific illustration of some aspects of the carried analysis is presented by the example of the computerized MC&A system of FSUE SRI SIA Luch [2, 3] and other systems known from literature. It is shown that the main part of the work for passing to the computerized MC&A systems of a new generation has been done and development of the typical applied software, upgrading of existing systems and creation of new domestic certified system software are required only. This work may turn out to be the effective and representative element of the program to support sustainable, long-term operation of NM Control and Accounting Systems developed in Russia.
