Abstract
The report incorporates theoretical and practical aspects of creation and implementation of risk assessment methodology for the nuclear security of the State corporation for atomic energy (Rosatom) nuclear sites. It is noted that the methodology is a tool to analyze the current status of site physical protection and justify necessary costs for its improvement. Rosatom is carrying out the development of a risk assessment methodology based on previously developed and approved regulatory documents and software for the physical protection system (PPS) effectiveness assessment. Implementation of this methodology will make it possible to continuously monitor risks both at the Rosatom level and at the level of individual nuclear sites and put into practice «achievement-oriented budgetary policy». Development and practical implementation of the risk assessment methodology will contribute to enhancement of Rosatom nuclear sites physical protection due to PPS optimization based on «risk – expenses» criterion.
