Abstract
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) can be very useful tools for storing, managing and distributing spatially located information on a need-to-know basis for the IAEA analysts and inspectors. But GIS offers more than a tool for visualization and dissemination of information. This paper aims at discussing some future possibilities and extensions to a GIS installation. The authors want to show how to use safeguards relevant analysis tools and web-services in a GIS client in order to enhance functionality and thus also the analysis possibilities. It will be examined how geoprocessing could improve the information extraction and assist in the conclusion and the visualization of the analysis.
