Abstract
The developers of next generation, safeguards focused, process monitoring systems need to have a clear understanding of what is required, and of any issues that might be encountered when implementing and using such systems. Feedback matters, from other researchers, inspectors and operators. The international R&D community concerned with safeguards focused, process monitoring systems is small. Efficiency through collaboration should be encouraged. Two series of research collaborations are described that have benefitted from feedback. The focus of the first is on load-cell monitoring at gas centrifuge enrichment plants. The focus of the second is on solution monitoring in reprocessing plants.
