Ten years of US-EC-Russia collaboration for the Project “Creation and Development of a Russian Methodological & Training Center for Control and Accounting of Nuclear Materials”

The Russian Methodological & Training Center (RMTC) was created at the Institute of Physics and Power Engineering (IPPE) in Obninsk, Russia in framework of collaborative programs between the United States (US), European Commission (EC) and the Russian Federation (RF) on nuclear materials protection, control and accounting (MPC&A). This paper summarizes the results of the creation and development of the RMTC and its activities relating to Russian nuclear facility personnel training, establishing of training classes and laboratories, development and enhancing of the training courses, utilization of the modern training technologies, as well as assistance to Russian nuclear facilities in implementation of the modern material control and accounting (MC&A) technologies in their practice. The statistics for nearly 10 years of RMTC operation is presented in this paper.
