Abstract
Room-temperature, pixelated CdZnTe detectors offer the reliability of scintillators with spectral performance near that of high-purity germanium. Marrying these capabilities into a single, light-weight detector has the potential to greatly simplify IAEA inspector concept-of-operations. The performance of an M400 CdZnTe detector is compared against current IAEA safeguards detectors and a modern, medium-resolution scintillator on plutonium and uranium standards. Results from an onboard uranium grading algorithm are benchmarked across a wide variety of enrichments and shielding. Potential use with the FRAMv6 package is discussed.
