Abstract
Solution monitoring evaluation systems (SMESs) are interactive computer tools that give safeguards inspectors a key role in the decision making process. A Tank Monitoring Evaluation System (TaMES) is a particular form of SMES founded on the concept of a sub-event. A standard 3-tank arrangement is often installed to decouple the operations of a series of continuously operated process units. The arrangement consists of a continuously-fed/ batch-emptied receipt tank, a batch-fed/emptied buffer tank, and a batch-fed/continuously-emptied feed tank. A new TaMES has been developed to extend current TaMES evaluation capabilities to this 3-tank set, and to evaluate advanced capabilities that might benefit inspector reasoning.
