Abstract
In the recent decade, nuclear security has become an important issue stated by IAEA due to several malicious acts accidents including illicit traficking. To minimize radiological and nuclear material illicit traficking, the role of front line officer is essential. Since, nuclear security is a new issue in Indonesia, the awareness of front line officer in Indonesia has to be improved. To achieve this goal, Department of Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics had been conducted a nuclear security training for them in Batam. One of delivery method in the training was 4.5 hours table top exercise developed by the trainers to deliver the principle of nuclear security topic. The trainees were divided into bad and good team who will attack and defend the radiological sources in a hypothetical hospital having radiotheraphy facility, respectively. Pre and post test had been done to know the effectiveness of the exercise. Based on test, table top exercise is one of preferred and effective method for delivering material in such training, besides field work and trips. Special test after table top exercise using scale 1 (worst) to 7 (excellent) was also conducted to know their improvement in basic knowledge of nuclear security, threat, detect, delay, response, design of nuclear security system, system vulnerability, role of human and defense in depth. According to the test, their knowledge is shifted from 2 to 6 which the defense in depth is the most difficult matter to know. It makes sense since this was first training on nuclear security for the trainee, even first nuclear related training for the most of them.
