Abstract
The presentation will describe the growing security threat posed by inexpensive, commercially available drones, or unmanned aerial systems (UAS), and the counter-UAS technologies now being developed and deployed to offset this real threat to critical national infrastructure in every country. We will provide an overview of the various drone types and capabilities, identify the complications arising from a range of drone operators spanning “clueless to criminal,” and define the role and performance of sensors and effectors that enable comprehensive situational awareness and build robust 3D security systems to counter this growing threat.
