Abstract
FB-Line, a Category I facility located at the Savannah River Site, utilizes a two phase safeguards approach to decrease the physical inventory frequency of the solid bulk process from Bi-monthly to Semi-Annual. This paper provides a general overview of the functions and features of these strategies and how they play an integral part in the overall confidence of the inventory records of FB-Line. During a typical inventory period many items and several batches will be processed and evaluated. Based on this increased process monitoring and evaluation process – abrupt loss detection and Batch Limit of Error evaluations, a variance was submitted and approved to decrease the inventory frequency. This paper addresses the process monitoring and measurement evaluation strategy used to decrease the bulk inventory frequency and provide an enhanced oversight of the bulk processes.
