Abstract
The IAEA has gained several years of experience in safeguarding the spent fuel in dry storage canisters at CANDU 600 Reactors. Methods for verification of the Design Information of canisters by two Radar-based techniques are discussed and compared. NDA verification techniques currently in use and measures under way to improve their effectiveness are described. The status of techniques currently under development for provide real time online information on the status of the canister under remote monitoring conditions is described. An overview is given showing the interrelationship between canister verification and C/S applications within the framework of an overall remote monitoring scheme for these reactors.
