Abstract
The growing size of the nuclear industry brings in issues related to material trafficking and development of improvised nuclear weapons by terrorist groups. Remote detection of such devices is imperative for launch of pre-emptive strikes against such terror attacks and poses a challenge to modern technologies. This paper identifies the capabilities of present day technologies to achieve this goal and also presents a survey of emerging techniques which have the potential to be used for development of remote detection systems
