Abstract
A system of detection capabilities is required to properly address terrorist threats against sensitive facilities. Proper detection techniques need to be implemented to screen incoming personnel, vehicles, packages, and to provide continuous monitoring capability for weapons of mass destruction. IMS detection provides a variety of platforms that can be implemented to address specific and diverse threatening situations. Barringer has recently developed a new and improved walk-through portal, for high-volume screening of personnel for traces of explosives. This system is automated, non-intrusive, fast, sensitive and robust and will screen a large number of people without the need for frequent servicing. In addition Barringer has developed a continuous CW monitoring system that can be integrated into a building’s existing HVAC system This detector continuously and automatically monitors for the presence of CW agents and TICs, at extremely low levels, to provide a warning that an attack is underway and in response automatically shut down the HVAC system to prevent wide spread contamination.
