Abstract
The State of Kuwait, a pivotal member of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), is one of many nations that have expressed interest in the development of a domestic, peaceful, nuclear power program. Kuwait has taken a number of steps to make this determination and has even established an organization known as Kuwait National Nuclear Energy Committee (KNNEC) to look into and plan for the introduction of nuclear power program in Kuwait in accordance with the highest international safety standards, working in full transparency with the IAEA and friendly nuclear supplying countries. This paper and subsequent presentation will outline the steps Kuwait has taken and will also highlight the path forward as Kuwait embarks on the development of its program.
