Abstract
The Nuclear Materials Identification System detector-detector cross correlations from passive measurements of plutonium metal assemblies are highly sensitive to the position of the assemblies with respect to the detectors. This position sensitivity coupled with an optimum configuration of four detectors about the assembly can be used to extract the distribution of the 240Pu in a plutonium metal assembly. This process is currently being implemented at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory with four detectors arranged in a tetrahedron and 252Cf sources as surrogates for the 240Pu.
