Abstract
For the past two decades, the CANBERRA hybrid K-edge/XRF densitometry system has been a powerful tool in international safeguards for special nuclear materials. Hybrid K-edge/XRF densitometry offers unparalleled non-destructive assay accuracy and precision for dissolver solution measurements in short count times. The current generation HKED data acquisition and analysis software is built on the VAX/VMS® platform. This platform has proven to be a reliable environment well suited for real-time operations. Recent advancements in computer and software technology have precipitated a need for the porting of the VMS®-based software to a PC platform running under the current version of the Windows® OS. The new software provides a client-server application utilizing the latest software technologies including advanced analysis and visualization tools. In addition to the new software features, several significant new physics treatments have also been incorporated to make the spectral analysis more robust and further improve the accuracy of the analysis results.
