Abstract

The NBL Program Office has completed an organizational move from the Department of Energy’s Office of Science to the National Nuclear Security Administrations Defense Programs Office of Stockpile Management. The mission of the NBL Program Office remains the same: production and certification of nuclear reference materials, ensuring the availability of reference materials to our customers, and providing measurement quality support via proficiency testing and expertise. This presentation will discuss the current and planned future state of the primary mission elements of the NBL PO, including plans for staffing, infrastructure associated with mission execution, and an outlook on the planned budget and operational capabilities envisioned to meet the US governments needs for nuclear reference materials. The status of material consolidation, storage and distribution from the NBL Center at Y12 and Los Alamos National will be discussed, along with an overview of current and planned investments in laboratory capabilities at several DOE sites. The current status and plans for reference material projects will be discussed.
