Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to describe the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s (NRC) information security program. In many ways, the NRC implements its protection of sensitive and classified information similar to other federal agencies; however, there are certain aspects of identification and protection of information that are unique to our agency. The NRC must deal with a delicate balance between the requirements of the United States government to protect aspects of national security and the needs of the public to ensure that the people and the environment are adequately protected.
