Abstract
The Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Environmental Management (EM) developed the Waste Acceptance Product Specifications (WAPS) for High-Level Waste (HLW) form processing/production as the basis for EM=s waste acceptance program. The EM-WAPS are the top EM echelon technical specifications the vitrified HLW waste forms are required to meet in order to ensure acceptance into the DOE Civilian Radioactive Waste Management System (CRWMS). The EM-WAPS govern all elements of the canistered waste form including: the borosilicate waste glass; the stainless steel canister; the sealed canistered waste form; quality assurance requirements; and the DOE Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management (RW) waste acceptance documentation requirements. EM ensures that the EM-WAPS are in concert with the RW HLW baseline. This paper provides a brief listing of the more important technical specifications. INTRODUCTION
