Abstract
It is stated that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) found no indication of diversion of declared nuclear material from peaceful nuclear activities, and no indication of undeclared nuclear material or activities in the Republic of Korea (ROK) on the Safeguards Implementation Report (SIR) for 2007. The implementation of Integrated Safeguards (IS) in the ROK was started on 1 July 2008 in accordance with the IS State Level Approach (SLA) for the ROK. The ROK SSAC implemented the new national safeguards inspection regime on 1 January 2009. This paper shows how the IAEA and the ROK SSAC applied the IS safeguards approach to nuclear facilities in the ROK, and the IAEA and national inspection experiences under IS.
