Abstract
At present, all WIPP certification resources in the industry--especially Non Destructive Assay (NDA), Non Destructive Examination (NDE), Headspace Gas (HSG) Sampling, and Data Validation personnel-- are stretched thin due to initiatives around the DOE complex to increase WIPP shipments from an average of 4 per week to 17 per week. As such, it is imperative that additional production resources be in place to maximize the characterization, data review and validation, certification, and shipping activities across DOE sites. It is also critical that DOE utilize all possible operational efficiencies that would increase the throughput of SWEPP. This presentation will discuss paths forward in characterization and certification, including NDA, NDE, HSG, Drum Venting and Filtering, and Data Review and Validation.
