Abstract
As the unintentional and intentional accidents have been increased throughout over the world, the global nuclear community demands the consideration of nuclear security as well as nuclear safety at every stage of nuclear power facility including selection of site, design, construction, and operation to enhance the use of nuclear power in times of peace. Accordingly, the integrated consideration of Safety and Security Interface (SSI) has been increasingly required. The government of Korea, Nuclear Safety and Security Commission (NSSC), acknowledged the significance of conjunction between safety and security, and it has been conducting studies on such conjunction by taking progressive actions such as suggestion of review of conjunction between safety and security of nuclear power as one of the major agenda at the Seoul Nuclear Security Summit. Through various studies, the NSSC and KINAC have been improving various systems to reinforce the SSI such as 1) Legal systematic basis of interface, 2) Regulatory activities considering interface, 3) Emergency response considering the interface, etc.
