Development of a generic database management system for facility level nuclear material accountancy and control

While the IAEA provides extensive support for Member States to develop their State system of accounting for, and control of nuclear materials (SSAC), via the IAEA SSAC advisory service and through numerous on-line reference documents and technical manuals; guidance on and experience in, the development of facility level systems is less readily accessible. This paper describes Australian experience in the development of a generic, customizable database utilizing the graphical user interface and native report functionality using FileMaker v11, which is being developed as a stand-alone system with a view to providing regional assistance to emerging and developing countries.
