Abstract
In this paper, we describe progress on the development of CdZnTe-based radiation detection technology, including a combined CdZnTe-BGO detector for nuclear material detection and assay, cooling techniques to improve pulse-height resolution at elevated temperature, and miniature detectors for hand held measurements and unattended monitoring. The technology described in this paper addresses a wide range of applications, including nondestructive assay, holdup measurements, emergency response, and customs inspections. Issues underlying the development of detectors for these applications are addressed.
