Abstract
An active Well Coincidence Counter (AWCC) has been modified to measure 50-cm long storage canisters with HEU fuel disks of different enrichment. A few flexible insert was designed for the AWCC. It can contain up to for AmLi sources in order to obtain uniform response distribution along the canister height. Benchmark measurements were performed to define the final insert design for the AWCC calibration. Calibration curves were generated for five types of HEU fuel-disk storage canisters. Measurements of sealed HEU fuel-disk storage canisters as new accountable items could greatly reduce time required for physical inventory verification and lower radiation exposure to personnel performing the inventory.
