Abstract
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Nuclear Security Administration's Y-12 National Security Complex (NSC) continues to prepare to move into the new Highly Enriched Uranium Materials Facility (HEUMF). This paper will explain the execution plan for moving Y-12's special nuclear material (SNM) from various locations within the plant to the new HEUMF. It will describe the transportation scenarios and simulation models, primary and secondary re-containerization efforts, and relocation of materials to accomplish this task. Material reduction campaigns that are currently taking place in an attempt to reduce the complexity of this task will also be discussed briefly. The current schedule and cost restrictions will also be touched on to the extent possible. This paper will quantify and expound on the task as possible in an unclassified manner.
