Abstract
Nuclear Facilities in the United States (US) are required to perform safeguards commensurate with the facility’s activities and possessed nuclear material. The applicable requirements are determined by the type of facility and its intended purpose. The primary US regulating entities are the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Department of Energy, and the National Nuclear Security Administration. Each of the US regulators has a different “approach” to safeguards due to their inherently different missions/purposes.
