Abstract
Nuclear security culture is a relatively new concept in nuclear industry. In 2008, IAEA published Nuclear Security Series No. 7 which cover the concept of nuclear security culture and its implementing guide. Currently, nuclear security culture is actively promoted and improved. The collaboration between Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) with National Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN) through Center for Security Culture and Assessment (CSCA) was held as an effort to disseminate nuclear security culture in Indonesia. Four students of UGM did the internship at CSCA from January until February 2015. During the internship, students learn about nuclear security culture directly from the experts and conducting several projects, including pilot project on self-assessment survey at Center for Informatics and Strategic Nuclear Zone Utilization (PPIKSN). PPIKSN, in which CSCA located, is responsible for physical protection system at 30 MW research reactor at Serpong Nuclear Area. This paper will cover both perspectives from the university and CSCA-BATAN, how the program was done, the advantage, critics, and suggestion. The authors hoped the lesson learned from this paper will encourage the other countries to conduct similar program and take part on the promotion and improvement of nuclear security culture.
